After four outline drafts and four treatment drafts, I am currently writing the screenplay for a story contrasting family expectations and self-determination. "Greater Sunrise" is a feature film anticipated for release in 2030.
Here is a selection of film and TV productions for which I have been producer, director, location sound recordist, and/or editor:
Isn't It Called True Love? (2026), dir. Seaning
Filmed in Melboure, though set in current-day Northern Territory, the story deals with suicide resulting from the overbearing pressures of a failed romantic relationship.
This was a technically challenging project from a location sound perspective, as up to six wireless units needed to be managed simultaneously. The flight path for both Tullamarine and Essendon airports went overhead, but sometimes these things just can't be avoided. Fortunately our 1st AD was a gun at reigning in the schedule.
A festival release is expected later in the year.
The Watchers (2026), dir. Jez Underwood
This narrative short was a collaboration between Neon Chips, Berry Multimedia and Shogun Studios, as an entrant into the international film competition, 48 Hour Film Project (fka Global48). All films must have been made in the same 48-hour period.
There were strict guidelines for each crew's production. At 7:00pm on Friday the 10th of April, 2026, our team received two genres to choose from, with a specific line of dialogue and prop to be included. Kate Marwood wrote the script that night.
On the Saturday, we convened at Bighouse Arts in North Coburg, where they housed a repurposed W-class tram. Visually, the location was attractive. Unfortunately (and oddly for a Saturday), there were several crews of construction and mechanical works surrounding the tram. The cameras and microphones were all top-notch, so we walked away with workable material. Some video editing began later that night.
Editing was formally undertaken on the Sunday, with the picture lock completed before lunch, for transfer to Shogun Studios, where I completed four elements of audio post-production; dialogue editing, sound design placement, music composition, and session mixing. Submission was strictly at 7:00pm that night.
Thanks to the crew for an exhilarating experience: Edvard Christie (gaffer), Dmitri Cherkasski (DoP), Jez Underwood (Director), Chanelle Le Roux (Producer, Actor), Lucy Elliot (Actor), Grace Fermanis (Actor).
Better Man (2025), dir. Michael Gracey
In 2022, I worked on this mega-budget biopic of Robbie Williams as a production assistant.
Aspects of the role were diverse, from arranging location catering to sourcing equipment for the filming units, such as camera lenses and audio gear.
An interesting insight into the world of 9-figure film productions.
ABC-TV (current)
As of March 2022, I have been an Audio Technician at the Southbank studios.
I predominantly worked on Q+A, the ABC's flagship live broadcast show. It's thrilling on every occasion, with a rotating panel of politicians, artists, scientists, advocates and business leaders responding to questions posed by the audience.
I've also worked on Hard Quiz, Artworks, Insiders, Classic 100 and Countdown.
So far, I have participated in 40 episodes of nationally broadcast television.
Allira (2022), dir. Tyeli Hannah
This is my first narrative film as a key-creative, primarily as its Producer.
Tyeli and I realised this project with a five-figure budget. Filming occurred at inner-city locations and sound stages of Melbourne. If not for the cast and crew kindly volunteering, the cost in an industry-award setting would have reached six figures.
Pre-production spanned 50 weeks - unusually long for a short film - though we had endured several lockdowns in our fair city. It actually worked in our favour, ensuring we had plenty of time for the schedule to run smoothly. As a testament, every shooting day ran on time or under.
Our film screened at major competitive festivals, including Australia's most prestigous gathering of short films - Flickerfest in 2024.
The Saturday Night Dress (2022), dir. Mairi Cameron and Stephen Lance
Amongst a cast and crew of 40+ seasoned practitioners, I was part of the 3-person Production Management team for this "Proof-of-Concept" narrative short. The costume department was a sight to behold, and I was tasked with transporting the dozens of pre-war and post-war gowns for the weeklong shoot. I also catered half of the meals.
I can't say much at this time, though this was my first insight into what makes a major Australian feature film.
Graduation (2021), dir. Ollie Wicks
I was Location Sound Recordist for this VCA Masters student film, which also offered me the opportunity to guide the lead actress in composing a piano piece on-the-fly.
Ollie stars in his own film, shot between lockdowns in Melbourne.
Starlings of the Hyperreal (2021), dir. Harrison Leech
I catered 324 meals over 6 days, on a ludicrously tight budget of $1200.
To accomplish this, I had to work around 100 hours in a fortnight (including the week leading up to filming). And this was only possible if I volunteered my labour, which is a condition of all VCA film productions.
Harrison has created a stark futuristic dystopia, with a startling production aesthetic.
SHOGUN STUDIOS presents - A Beatles 50th Anniversary Rooftop Tribute (2019)
What a glorious project to undertake! These five gentleman are the cream of Australian rock music, which made my job ever more enjoyable and easy.
Here I get to exhibit a broad skill-set, as Executive Producer, Director, Audio Engineer and Video Editor.
Flushed (2015), dir. Richard Eames
This is a great work of satire, commenting on the inhumanity and neglect from the government of the time, regarding its failure to provide meaningful assistance to the unemployed.
The issue is dealt with humour instead of anger.
Five years prior, Richard Eames produced an award-winning music video for my band, Blac Blocs. We returned the favour by giving him the theme song for this film, aptly named Politician.
I am the song's co-writer, drummer, audio engineer and producer.
This film was even more lauded, garnering three WASA awards and an array of international festival screenings. I hope to work with Richard again.
